Our Beliefs
In The Sacrament of Baptism we baptize children or adults in the name of God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in one baptism and recognize baptisms from other churches. We encourage parents to present their children for baptism and to joyfully confess their faith in Jesus Christ and profess their intention to
raise their child to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. The children are enrolled as Baptized Members of the Church.
At Confirmation, these baptized young people are given the opportunity to publicly confess for themselves, confirming their faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
They dedicate their lives to serving as His disciples and are enrolled as Active Members. Through baptism, adults are publicly received into the church to share
in the life and ministry of the congregation as Active Members.
The sacrament of Communion or the Lord's Supper, is offered to all baptized Christians. We believe that the Lord is present with us as we share the bread and cup,
His body and blood offered freely for our salvation in the promised Kingdom. Participation in the Lord's Supper keeps us close to our Lord Jesus and gives us strength to live out
His commandments.
Marriage: We believe that marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family. Marriage is a
civil contract between a woman and a man. Christian marriage is an institution ordained by God and blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ. For Christians, marriage is a covenant through which a man and
a woman are called to live out together before God their lives of faith and discipleship. In a worship service for Christian marriage a life long commitment is made by the woman and man to each other,
publicly witnessed by the congregation. The congregation prays for the bride and groom that the couple will be strengthened by God to be able to keep the promises
they make to each other. A Christian home is an outpost of Christian mission, bearing witness to the love of
our Lord. We offer a worship service for the recognition of a civil marriage. We also offer the opportunity for couples to renew marriage vows.
Officers of the Church are minister(s), Elders, and deacons. These people are nominated and elected by the congregation, of good Christian reputation, willing to give their time
and talents in serving the Church according to the constitution of the PCUSA. By their leadership decisions and by their personal example we ask our officers to demonstrate their Christian faith by
living according to the teachings of Scripture, relying on the grace of our Lord Jesus to continually reform their lives and renew their faith. We ask that officers live a chaste life or be faithful
in their covenant of marriage.
Active Members are those who attend worship, contribute to the support of the church and its mission, increase their knowledge of the Scriptures by participation in Christian Education,
and nurture their relationship with God through Christian fellowship. We encourage everyone to strive to be the best Christian person they can be. Guided by the Scripture, we undertake personal evaluation,
repent, and confess our sins. We trust in the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ to forgive our sin and empower us by His Holy Spirit to reform our lives daily.
Stewardship of Life God has appointed us stewards, or managers, of the good gifts he has given us. These gifts include life itself, the bodies, minds and souls with which we worship,
work and play. These gifts from God include our time, talents, material resources, and money. We encourage faithful stewardship by regular and special offerings to thank God and to support the witness and
mission services of the church.
