Our Deacons organize and carry out many of the church activities throughout the year with lots of help from church members and friends.
Little things can make a big difference…
One of the Deacons most cherished activities is supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
A Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost. Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support.
You can help our Deacons support the Ronald McDonald House in our area by collecting the little tabs you pull to open soda, soup or other aluminum cans. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House’s expenses and care for children. These tabs can be dropped off at the church office during regular business hours.
Another way you can help them support the Ronald McDonald House is to attend one of their “Blanket Parties” or provide the fabric to make the blankets! These colorful blankets help to provide warmth and comfort to children while they are in the hospital. We share good food and fellowship while working together to bring comfort to others at our blanket parties…maybe you can join us at our next Blanket Making Party!
Monthly Food Bank support
Hunger knows no borders, with serious challenges in high- and low-income nations alike. In the United States about one in eight go hungry each day, including one in six children. You can help make a difference in the lives of others by donating food items on a regular basis. The Deacons collect and purchase food each month to help the Meadowlands Food Pantry keep their shelves stocked for families in need in our area.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms…”
